So yesterday Jenn went back to Mass, but we got two other volunteers (Steph and Mike who both came on the trip down here in March with me.)
Today we worked at the summer camp with my friend Christi Lou. At the end of the day she gave us a donation of bread she got from a bakery. Sitting on the table now we have several hundred dinner rolls, six loaves of french bread, a ton of po-boy (grinder or sub) rolls, and the biggest bag of the most delicious donuts you've ever seen. We don't really have room for all of it in our fridge so if anyone has any suggestions on what you can do with day old bread (but we don't have an oven so that hurts what you can do, let me know because I would love to use as much of this as possible.
Besides that things are going well. Tonight I finally was able to get my room totally straightened out and livable so that was nice. Besides that not much else is new...GO SOX!!!!!!

Address
Just to let people know my address is 4032 Burgundy St. New Orleans, LA 70117. If you would like feel free to send letters and small packages regularly (small as in the size of a hardcover book). Anything larger than that (or smaller if you are so inclined) should be sent with delivery confirmation/signature to ensure that it doesn't get swiped off my porch while I am at work. I don't mean to scare people because my neighborhood is fairly safe, but I do worry that someone might be tempted by something left out all day.
It's Saturday
So I've been here for almost three weeks now and since we have no washer/dryer here I finally had to go to the laundry mat today. Damn, its a lot more than it cost at school, but I guess its the real world. Jenn was supposed to leave today, but her flight got canceled, so shes going home tomorrow. Thats ok though because two more people I know from UConn, Mike and Steph are coming tomorrow and they are staying for almost three weeks.
Generally, I hate Fox sports, but I just realized that the Yankees Sox game was on right now, and I am getting to watch my Sox for the first time since leaving CT. God I wish we had money for things like NESN. Go SOX!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

First Real Post
So the movie is wrapped (at least as far as our house is concerned) and as of yesterday we now have our own water, rather than taking it from a neighbor (still no hot water). First hurricane of the season missed us, so that was good and lets keep our fingers crossed for the next 8 weeks. This past weekend I got cultured at the New Orleans Art Museum and sculpture garden, then went to hear jazz while we ate lunch in the Quarter. We topped this off at the French Market and shopping at some art galleries.
Today I stopped by and saw Uncle Mike. We talked for about an hour until he had to head to Selma, AL for a few days for work. We may get together again over the weekend. In related news I think Matty and I are going to have dinner tomorrow night so that will be good, especially since he hasn't seen any family in like 5 months.
For work today we worked doing some demo on a house and then went to help serve dinner at a community center. Tomorrow we are doing more demo on the same house, and hopefully doing some actual construction assuming the city finally came by to hook up the electric meter.

First Post
So this is my first post and really my first experience with blogging despite all I do with computers. But yeah Mom suggested I do this rather than emailing people about my experiences down south. Hopefully it works well, but if people don't like this format then let me know.
